Waking up in SF surrounded by drunken nerds.

Berkeley bums are less lyrical than I remember. Just hustling for a quick buck? Where have the poets for hire and the skateboarding nudists gone?

Bonus points: Name your favorite SF/Berkeley area coffeehouse.

Today is dedicated to peeling back the pearl of furniture and possessions that's formed around my life for the last 3 years.

Stopped for an hour by one stripped screw. FastSteel vs. stripped screw. FastSteel wins. Flawless victory.

Back to the tearing down. Wish me luck. I should be on the road tonight.

I have the kindle now. It is what it ought to be. For our introductions to each other, we're reading The Graveyard Book together. I wanted something addictive for our first experience together, so The Graveyard Book it is. And addictive it is, too.

Zipped up to Portland with d23 as a tourguide.

So far:

  • Voodoo Doughnuts is not what I expected, but no less wonderful.
  • I feel as though someone poured concrete into my nostrils. No wait, there's enough air moving in here to get a whiff. It's something much nastier than concrete.
  • People here, at least D's friends, are incredibly friendly and generous.
  • This city does indeed...
