For the past year and a half, I'd been planning a trip with my old friends from the home state, getting them to come out to visit just once and see what life was like and what all there was to love in the wider world. One by one, they each had medical issues, or finance issues, or just flaked. As of this morning, all but my oldest friend cancelled.
