Update: Loft application approved. The landlords are over-the-top disorganized and tell me it may be a week before they have the papers ready to sign to move in, but the deal is a go.

Also: New laptop ordered. I'm eager to move back off a two generation out-of-date non-pro laptop for my coding. A shiny new MacBook Pro 17", modestly hotrodded, is on it's way to me.

I've put in an application on a Deep Oakland loft.

It's what I was looking for: Lots of open space that's mine to play with and build out into my lair. Cheap. Nixon originally recommended it on the strength of it's lard delivery hardware, which we must admit, is impressive.
