Alize is her own special case. IMO, Alize aside, overall, American pop wins over Europop. Maybe due to better funding of the video edit, yes, but we can't exactly judge on lyrical content in this category.

(Which is not to say that Alize is not completely hot. There is no denying that.)

Ahhhhh, yes. The One That Got Away. Well, can't do much about that.

See you next weekend.

Day Four: The fever is now a puny little sinus infection. I'm so less-sick I feel exuberant by comparison.

Apparently I lost my voice somewhere along the way. I had made it out of the house to the grocery store, and was in the middle of checking out when I figured that one out. The checkout attendant had to keep looking up at me because...

Due to the bikini and heels along with the lack of plates, insurance and gear, this was stationary fun time.

Day Three of the Fever: The good news for today is that I was finally able to sleep. Vastly superior to the 48 hours before, when I mostly tossed and turned, wishing I was sleeping. Still not well, but better day by day.

Watching reams of documentaries on NetFlix instant to pass the time continues. The downside of this is that documentaries, especially histories, and...

The Fever's going around over here. So far no one's died. Do let us know if you're the first.

Kidding. Get well soon. Fevers are the the worst, in my opinion. I know you don't agree. But get well soon anyway.

I'm just laying in bed, letting NetFlix documentaries play in the background while this fever has me. After a day of this, it's all blurring together. Still, I'm pretty sure there was never an Elmyr di Medici.

I thought the documentary about the ancient Greeks was pretty good too, although not as compelling as the Medicis.

Sorry to hear the duress continues, but glad to hear you're still kicking.

Edit: After several bad hours, my body seems to have turned the corner on this bug. At least for tonight. Thanks for the well wishes, all.

My mother is concerned that we should all stock up on iodine pills, to protect us in case the nuke plant in Sendai has a meltdown. Now, I am deeply concerned about iodine, but not for the same reason.

Worldwide, one in three people doesn't get enough iodine. Iodine deficiency can do a lot of horrible things to a person, if it gets bad enough....

this is only their second one. They do different kinds. I highly recommend going. It is mostly board games and a couple 16 bit consoles.

It cheap to get in, but the bars are expensive, and the food court is awesome.

Factoid of the day:

Font sizes have traditional names, based on how many "points" they are tall. So a font that is four points high is "brilliant" while one that is five and a half points high is "agate" (or "ruby", if you're british).

Like all traditional divisions of things, there's a deliciousness to these names. It's like memorizing all the collective nouns - a...

Okies. Probably not a purchase in my near future since it has to jockey for money with the IRS, the bank, the dude who's fixing our hybrid's battery, and my travel bug. But now I know what to look for when it's time.
casper:
Weird! I didn't know that, about the font sizes.

How the Game Is Made - How the Art Got To Be That Way

One of the most gratifying things about making a game is seeing all the ideas that have been stuck in your head for weeks, months, or years make it out into the world. Seeing professional art - not just your imagination - makes the game suddenly real. For Lyssan, I have...

Unfortunately I don't think I know anyone who actually owns property, haha. You are really getting there with your game, so wonderful to see it all coming together! I remembered what it was that made me think of you the other day, there was a nice exhibition about lighthouses and it had huge old lenses and antique nautical equipment and charts. Now I'm starting to think I already told you that, must be losing my mind... !

I'm guessing that you'll find the answer is yes when packages from Dean & Delucca and such start arriving.

Yes you can. Next time try drunk texting with auto correct on.

The big news for the week is that the board game is taking leaps forward. I've been noting favorite artists for the past few years. A week ago I messaged my favorite one for Lyssan, the boardgame, and he's interested. I also filed for a new company in California - Thornhenge LLC - to do business through. Add on top of that more successful playtests...

I still think the cello is sexier than the violin, but in general I agree with you on the reasons why strings are sexy.

Spent most of the day in a forge, getting back into blacksmithing. Then had friends over for playtest #12 of the current boardgame prototype. Everyone was laughing, wheeling, and dealing the entire time. So that's a hit. Also two of my players were happy to take my first day's practice pieces from the smithing, and had a place in mind for them immediately. I'm closing...

I thought that was the proper protocol. Get drunk, wear funny hats, adventures find you.

The mushroom hat was my personal favorite.
