Something for me to think about: so i initially joined SG to sort of give me another door to the social world. Ive talked to a number of awesome people- gotten to hear about life in other parts of the country/world. I also Joined to (not gonna lie) talk to some pretty girls, maybe get some confidence boosters to aid me in the real world down the road. However, there have been times where i would issue a simple hello to some strangers ( and i completely respect privacy and the right to choose who you talk to ) only to either feel ignored or made to feel inferior- giving the opposite of my intended effect. I consider myself a friendly person and enjoy spreading it ( I feel like it makes a [sometimes] gloomy world livelier) : it brightens up my day to see someone give a smile or return the gesture. I feel like sometimes people will take one look at me, not think i'm attractive enough, and move on. Maybe its wishful thinking- a world where we all acknowledge there are flaws inherent in all of us and we dont rush to shun those with more apparent flaws. Or maybe its just a nice guy being confronted by someones shield put up due to being previously hurt, or being constantly harassed for being beautiful ( i understand theres real assholes out there). I don't know people are just complex beings and should be addressed as individuals not as a whole ( i.e.not all guys are the same, just like not all people within a race are the same). we all go through some tough shit in our lives- some more than others, so remember- say hello more often- its the least we can do for each other
Peace, and take care of each other!
