Last night I was riding the T, looking out the window at the blackness beyond when I began to listen in on the conversation taking place in front of me. A young boy, a college freshman perhaps, was talking to his friend seated next to him. He spoke of his life and how in awe he was of the fact that he lived in Boston. He spoke of his dreams and the fact that not a moment goes by where he is not stunned by the direction his life has taken.
And all I thought to myself was, "Why cant I be that boy?"
Less than two weeks ago my life had some general direction, and what I thought to be a purpose. I still hold that purpose, but the direction has completly faded from view.
So tonight, I will go home on the T and look out the window at the blackness beyond and think to myself, "What next?"
I most certainly will not find the answer.
