ON THE TOPIC OF BLOGGING
I read in a friend's blog that she was (reading between the lines) disturbed by people blogging about people they didn't like, so she proceeded to blog a complete self appraisal of herself presumably to beat anyone else to the punch.
I believe this is as successful a response to a perceived emotional threat as any but it gave me pause. why would a person blog about someone they didn't like in the first place? and unless you know that person well and trust them above your own judgement it just qualifies as "let them eat cake" type slander. i can only guess that it would be emotional relief from worrying about someone you didn't like, which is certainly any person's right. but why waste the time and emotional energy in the first place? i guess i just have more of a "fuck it" attitude". i just don't react.
But should i? i guess the question i'm pondering is wether it is better to ignore or respond to slander in blogging. i don't know and i guess i Can't know if and until someone blog's badly about me. then i will know how it feels and be able to see how i respond.
