In Search of Nick Drake

LONDON, England (AP) -- Brad Pitt will narrate a British Broadcasting Corp. radio series about one of his musical idols, Nick Drake.

The BBC said Tuesday that the actor had recorded a two-part documentary about Drake, which will air on music station Radio 2 next month.

The plaintive singer-songwriter recorded three albums before his death from a drug overdose in...

Wow. Thanks for opening up like that. I have to admit, I have never listened to any Nick Drake. I have a friend that always seems to catch the latest "trend" in music, but never really discerns between the good ones and the bad. He has insisted that I listen to some Drake. However, I hate dissapointment and I am stubborn to the point that when I am told, "oh, you have got to listen to this", I NEVER feel persuaded. On the other hand, yours is an inspiring story. I think I will seruptitiously listen to a cd, but never tell my friend and then if I like it, only admit it in about a year. That way I can claim that I don't remember him suggesting it. biggrin

sigh...

from the Canadian rumor mill:

the show was a hit in Canada and the rumor is that Global TV, the network which carried the show, is considering purchasing the rest of the thirteen episodes, to complete its run.
cheech:
I just saw today, while looking around Amazon, that the first seasons of Freaks and Geeks and The Gilmore Girls are both coming out soon on DVD.
It seems like respectable shows do eventually find their audience... it's just the audience has to pay...

If they "know" men watch porn, why don't they broadcast porn? confused

from ain't it cool news:

"Well, turns out that rumor about Wonderfalls moving permanently to Thursdays was complete bullshit, to say the least.

Heres Wonderfalls' overseer Tim Minear with the news:

Well, not sure what to tell ya'll -- but we're cancelled. Effective at once. The cow creamer will be silent this Thursday and forever forward. Once we recover from the not-shock,...

Haha, nope, that's my semi-hero, Quentin Crisp. Author of many great books, and the documentary Resident Alien is regularly in my VCR.

Favorite firesign quote:

"Oh blinding light, oh light that blinds, I cannot see, Look out for me!"

Thanks for adding me as a friend! smile

listening to the new norah jones' cd helps immensely.

Listening to "Come away with me" on hot days is great. It tends to lower the temperature a couple degrees. I guess that's where they coined the phrase cool jazz.

just a heads-up: Wonderfalls has been moved to Thursdays at 9PM..
