well it looks like another weekend in Chi town for me- I migrate there so often it's ridiculous. Got me a little sweetness down there now- his name is Mike, and he's a total golden boy. My first blond. very fun loving and surfer-ish. And a complete drunkard, so naturally we're a great pair. I'm not so into James- he's quite negative and critical, two...

Hi. I took a look at your photos and I really like the ash tray, the photos of the stringed instrument that were for the symphony, and some of the nudes were very interesting. I like the neck photo in the nudes particularly. Good luck with your works.

Okay, so I have had probably the MOST humbling moment tonight:

Dick Cheney was at this Gyros restaurant today, and of course I had to cover it. I knew about this in advance, and I tried to dress as conservatively as possible (or at least as conservatively as you can with pink hair and an ear tattoo) to blend in. Only 2 other photographers were...

Ever work a 60 hour workweek and been paid for 45?

Ever feel like your chosen profession, a degreed profession combined with a second degree and previous work experience, gets looked down on like you are a Denny's waitress?

Ever have so much work piled on you you feel like your head might explode and you start shaking and twitching like an itchy bear cub?...

Holy crap- classic ayem weekend, folks. I went to Chicago Sunday night with a couple of friends, and, you guessed it, things got crazy. I finally got home Monday night after going to and from Milwaukee twice no less; my friend Mando is the pukin'est guy I know, my other friend Em got stranded down there (hence the 2 trips) and basically everyone I went...

Well, I survived my trip. In fooling around on this trip, I am disappointed to report that the crop factor on the digital camera is more of a problem than I thought. My 24mm lens, at 36mm equivalent, isn't wide enough to do anything remotely like what I'm used to doing with a wide. I'm not sure the lens I would need is out there for Nikon. It may be too soon to give up film.

Thanks for inviting me to the gallery night. Maybe we should hang out sometime. I live on the east side about 1 block from The Estate. I should also show you some sculptures one of these days.

OMG my new job is rugged like Schwartzenegger in his early days. My new motto? "suck it up; rub some dirt on it" blackeyed

Thanks! I feel like a big shot now with inside connections an' shit. I guess I better start rummaging through my box to collect the negatives in question. This part might not be so fun. Since I used to do everything through a retail photo developer, my organization system was basically sprawling piles of 4x6 print envelopes...

My last toy for a while just arrived: a 24mm/f1.8 lens, made by Sigma. The fact that such a fast, wide lens exists for so cheap kind of blows my mind. And it seems to compare favorably to similar Canon L lenses in tests that cost about 5 times as much. Unfortunately, with the crop factor, it's more like a much less impressive 36 for digital. I look forward to the day when full-frame sensors come down into a reasonable price range - that crop factor business blows.

Specs-wise, this is probably the fastest and cheapest, and the cheapest retailer::

http://www.sigmaphoto.com/html/zoom_intro.htm

http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/from-pricegrabber.asp?id=964589911&rf=pg&dfdate=10_06_2004

I just bought my sigma from this retailer. Saved $50 and no problems. They'll save you $100 on that zoom.

Holy crap! They've got the grey market Nikkor for almost the same price:

http://www.digitalfotoclub.com/sc/from-pricegrabber.asp?id=645523054&rf=pg&dfdate=10_06_2004

That's insane. The retail on that is $1400.

So the Kenosha art fair was a lot of fun. I sold 2 pieces, and traded one for this really cool print. artman and needie were charming as usual, and I hung out with more super cool sg peeps as well. This was my first outdoor show; I need to invest in a tent but the weather weather was bee-yoo-tee-ful for Wisconsin falltime- it still...

Okay, so plan B is this: pictures shot through a prism, only of Riverside park, where there are tons of tangled tree branches and wildflowers right beside slabs of graffiti choked concrete. A nice juxtaposition that will look even weirder and more confusing oncew visually split by the prism. Cool?
I am no longer a symphony employee. Wooohooo! I'm wrapping up loose ends at the...

Sorry so absent, peeps, so here is the xtra chunky big n' hefty journal entry I promised. So I went out to San Diego to see this boy I had been involved with on and off for several years. He actually did a good job of pissing me off on and off for several years, but for some inexplicable reason every time I would tell...

So here are the awaited Donkey Punch pictures. (see pics folder) This was a bondage show I shot at Mantra Lounge in the Mil, as a favor to DJ Crisgo Disco, who spun for free at my gallery opening. It was a helluva party, as you will see, and I only regret that I have no pictures of myself, and that I don't have the...

nice photos! i love motion and shakiness

Edit: I mean the motion in the Donkey Punch pictures, # 1 and 12.

Also, I like the Abstract pictures # 8 - 15. They really are like paintings with the oversaturated colors.
