OK, so clearly there's no such thing as a piercing that is exclusively for one gender or the other. Specific genital piercings may be only available to people with the right kind of genitals, but even that doesn't necessarily make them gendered: there's no reason why a trans man shouldn't have a nifty VCH or a trans woman shouldn't absolutely rock a Prince Albert.
But it would be dishonest to pretend that some piercings aren't more common in one gender or another. One such piercing is the navel, which has been quite a popular — even fairly mainstream — piercing among women since the mid-nineties, but remains unusual in men.
But nonetheless a few men do have this piercing, and some of them look pretty good. What better way to set off a sculpted set of washboard abs than with a little jewellery in the navel?
I, on the other hand, do not have a sculpted set of washboard abs. I don't have a six-pack so much as a half-full polypin. A pierced navel may look good on handsome, lean, fit men, but will it look good on a fat ugly dude?
Only one way to find out. I have an appointment booked for five weeks' time.
