I haven't been on this site for such a long time now BUT everytime I had problems or didn't know what to do you all were the best help I could ask for!!! So I try it now because I really don't know what to do. It's a decision concerning my career...
I thought I already made my decision but now I am totally confused.
I ended my university studies a month ago and looked for a job. During my studies I worked at the ENT department of the hospital and I really loved it. All my colleagues are incredibly nice, I like the work and I always felt comfortable there.
A few months ago they told me that they will MAYBE have a PHD position for me available and I was very happy. But it was unclear if they would get the fund for it.
Therefore I searched for other options and I found a job at the forensic medicine. I was very happy about it because my friend who works there told me to try it and I GOT THE JOB.
A few days later I got a call from the ENT department that they have the PHD position available and that I could have it.
Now, which job should i choose..... I tell you the differences:
- the forensic medicine department pays more because its a fulltime job compared to the ENT PHD which consists of 70 % job and 30 % studies.
- the forensic medicine department offers my a long-term employment compared to the ENT PHD which only lasts for 3-4 years.
Because of these informations I ALREADY CHOOSE the forensic medicine job.
BUT!!!!!!!!!!!
Right after I signed the contract I got a phone call from my friend and made drama about how all the colleagues think I will steal their job or take the job from a friend. She also was very upset that the boss told everybody that I am a friend of her and therefore everybody thinks I only got the job because of that.
So do you know what I mean? I don't know the people yet but they already slag me off even before I get introduced to them. I can only imagine how the working atmosphere will be. And I am scared of that!!!!!!!!!!!!
After that I thought about the two jobs again and I recognized that I loved working in the ENT department. Even if I don't get that much money and it only lasts for a few years. Should I have choosen the job at the ENT department or did I do the right thing????
What should I do? I already signed the contract BUT i have a probation time of some weeks when I could recall the job.
WHAT SHOULD I DO? I am so confused and scared that I dream of it all night and wake up crying!
Please help me. what should I do????
