Hey everyone,

Sorry I have been out of the loop for so long. A lot of it has had to do with things that are going on in my life, some of them good. I finally have a new job, and will be tentatively moving in about three weeks or so. No more rats, no more sporadic gunfire peppering the neighbors' houses - I should be in a much nicer neighborhood before this is all over with.

I've also been pretty down lately about everything that's going on with the disaster in New Orleans, as I'm sure most of us are. I have always had trouble coping with suffering and death, but to have it happening on such a large scale, and to have it happening practically on my doorstep instead of some faraway third-world country, is really hard to deal with. I only wonder what it would be like if I actually had loved ones that lived down there. I do know a few people that have been affected by the disaster. One of the girls I worked with at the temp assignment I just completed has eight family members living with her and her husband and kids, because their house is gone - flattened. And to think about how much of this suffering could have been prevented, really infuriates me.

I will probably not be around much for the next few weeks, so if I don't respond to your posts right away, it's not because I'm being an asshole to you. It's probably just because I'm busy being an asshole to someone else.
