Well, the last few days have been interesting, to say the least. I went over to my sister's house yesterday for the weekend, which was very odd, but also very positive. This was the first time I had seen my sister since about 1998, and we spent a lot of time catching up on things. My brother was also there with his new wife and their 21-month-old son. This was the first time I had seen him in slightly over a decade, and it was a bit disconcerting at first because he has aged so much in that time that he looks almost completely different. It was sort of like one of those time-travel movies like Back to the Future, as if I had been catapulted a decade into the future or something. Anyway, everything was great, and I had a really good time catching up with my brother and meeting his new family.

I spent the night, and today my father and his wife came over for a little father's day BBQ. I was really nervous about how things would go, but they ended up going really well, and it looks like we're all well on the path to reconciliation, which is a very good thing. My dad had a heart attack a few years ago, and neither my brother nor my sister were speaking to him at the time. The whole experience of that made me think about a lot of things, not the least of which was how hard it might be on my dad if he were to approach the end of his life without having reconciled with them. At the time, I was really pissed off at them, for not being there when he had his heart attack and also for not coming down to see my mom (their step-mother) before she died. But if today's reconciliation means that they will be there for my dad when his end time comes, I think that I can put my anger behind me.

So, yes, good things are afoot. And I have been accident-free for over a week now! biggrin
