Not having a good day today, as of about 5 minutes ago...

I just found out that one of my cousins died a couple of nights ago. She was in her house when it burned down, and didn't make it out. I'm completely shellshocked, because this just literally came out of nowhere. They think there might have been foul play involved, because she and her husband had been having trouble with a few of their neighbors. Whatever the case, it's totally fucked. What a horrible way to die.

She was about the age of my mom, and they were really close while I was growing up. They babysitted for each other, and her son and I were pretty inseparable as kids. She moved away to Oklahoma about the time my mom started having her troubles, and my contact with her and her son since then has been increasingly sporadic. I hadn't talked to her since last year some time. And now I won't be able to. Fuck. So I'll be going to a funeral in Oklahoma this weekend. I feel kind of numb now, and I'm not really sure that the reality of this has hit me yet.
