Today is my day off this week and aside from attempting to get my car into the shop for the estimate on the damage I have no plans. I'm gonna do yard work I think and maybe work in the garden a bit, relax and have a beer. Yes that is a good plan, possibly go meet some friends for dinner later but who knows.

I was running errands this morning and on the way home I saw a hawk circling the river and spinning in tight arcs up and down the banks. It was beautiful and the hawk was big with great upsweeps at the wing tips. I looked around the bus and saw everyone just blah and staring into nothingness, blank and pained. Except for this one old guy about 70 or so with a huge grin on his face as he watched the hawk, he looked over at me saw my huge smile and we watched the bird together. He looked around the bus, shook his head, shrugged and then winked at me like it was a secret conspiracy that we alone had the inside track on. It was a great moment and I'm thankful for getting to share in it.

Somedays I love and pity humanity at the same time.

awwww... it's boo-ti-ful!

that's an awesome journal entry. i love when things like that happen, when i notice something and get to share it with someone like that.. often i feel lonely - that helps to alleviate the lonliness.

Thanks, Wade. I appreciate the offer, but don't make my stinky little town the sole reason for booking a flight to the States. If you're ever in the area, though- try to make it a Friday night. Trust me on this one. wink

And I fully know what you mean about humanity- there are times when I'm proud to be one, and then there are times when I go, "I didn't show up with these people..."
