Spirit

of winter nights,

wandering in the darkness

with your white robe

and the your pale skull,

sings

your ancient melodies,

and let me welcome you

within the walls of my house.

Spirito

delle notti invernali,

che vaghi nell’oscurità

con la tua candida veste

e il pallido teschio,

canta

le tue antiche melodie,

e lascia che ti accolga

tra le mura di casa mia.

A dark figure

slowly

approaches

the lighted window,

on his shoulders

a huge black sack

which moves

frantically.

His tongue

taste

the cold air

of December,

while

his eyes

shining

maliciously

at the sight of his prey,

that will disappear into darkness.

Una figura oscura

si avvicina

lentamente

alla finestra illuminata,

sulle sue spalle

un enorme sacco nero

che si muove

freneticamente.

La sua lingua

assaggia

l’aria gelida

di Dicembre,

e i suoi occhi

brillano

malignamente

alla vista della sua preda,

che sparirà nelle tenebre.

The snow

resting

on my shoulders,

has frozen

by the wind of December

and it will not be

the sun of spring

to dissolve it.

My breath

condenses

into a bleak cloud,

which carries

my spirit,

leaving my body

cold and numb.

My tears

will not ease

my wounds,

but they will be confused

with falling snow.

La neve

appoggiata

sulle mie spalle,

si è ghiacciata

dal vento di Dicembre

e non sarà il sole

di primavera

a scioglierlo.

Il mio respiro

si condensa

in una fosca nube,

che porta con sé

il mio spirito,

lasciando il mio corpo

freddo e intorpidito.

Le mie lacrime

non allevieranno

le mie ferite,

ma si confonderanno

con la neve cadente.

I am not afraid

at the sight

of your bleeding eyes

and empty orbits .

I feel serenity

from the heat

of your light,

and the warmth of the candles

placed on your head

like a crown.

I’m not terrified

towards your skull

that ghostly wanders

in the darkness of the night,

and the winter breeze.

I am enraptured

By the ancient melodies

that come...

Non provo paura

alla vista

dei tuoi occhi sanguinanti

e le orbite vuote.

Provo serenità

dal calore

della tua luce,

e dal calore delle candele

poste sulla tua testa

come una corona.

Non provo terrore

verso il tuo teschio

Che vaga spettrale

tra il buio della notte,

e la brezza dell’inverno.

Sono rapita

dalle antiche melodie

che escono dalla tua bocca,

e volteggiano nell’aria

come...
