So I've received two excellent comments so far, both making the very good point that it depends on what he's like, that everyone is different. I trust him, believe me, so I guess I just have to let it go. It's just the degree of his interest that concerns me. He evangelizes the site to anyone who will listen, talks about the girls like he knows them, and (this is the part I guess that bothers me) talks about how interesting they all are. I feel lame by comparison. I mean, I don't eat fire, I only speak two languages and my German isn't that great anymore since I'm out of practice, I work in an office. (Although, so does he --- up until last week, we were working across the aisle from each other in the Admissions office of an online university. I just got a new job in marketing downtown through one of his acquaintances.)
I know he thinks I'm nuts for being sensitive about this, but I just worry about holding his interest when I'm just me, not some character on this website. He's going to see me be boring. But this all sounds like I'm not giving him enough credit. Anyways, okay, I'm on here now, I'm going to enjoy it.
If you're reading this, btw, I'm sorry for being such a weirdo. I'm just going to relax and go with it.
Sooooo.... I mentioned that I'm literally between jobs right now. On Monday, I start working downtown on Michigan Avenue for a major internet marketing firm. I took the train down there today to get a look around, and to have lunch with SensitiveMonster's friend, the one who hired me. She's really REALLY cool, so I'm sure she'll be a great boss, and I'm excited about the position. I guess I'll be working on one of the major accounts, which is a great start! The office is really nifty too, all open and loft-y with exposed ducts. Weird question of etiquette: I guess the boss is having a barbecue for everyone tomorrow at his house with his family, and I'm invited. Do I go? I'm afraid it'll be brutally awkward. Originally, they were just going to have a pub crawl in downtown Chicago tonight, but then it got changed to BBQ Friday. The thing is, I'd be fine with going out to the bar crawl, since it would be a happy hour, drinks-after-work kind of thing. I'm just thinking it would be weird to first meet the boss and then his kids. It's awfully personal for JUST starting a new job....
