Two sets on the front page in a row that have been worth looking at! Wow! I hope this is indicative of a permanent shift, and we shan't be going back to the old "tattooed girl exposing her genitals by a lake" genre that has been the norm up till now.

At some point, Dancer in the Dark went from depressing to funny for me. That doesn't happen very often, but something about the fact that she's sentenced to death AND is going blind...Maybe I'm just sick.

My sister, making the mistake of Facebook posting some kind of support for a local (to her, not even me) political cause, has set me all thinking. The cause in question was some kind of Anti-Bullying Legislation being proposed for Minnesota.

Unfortunately, I fear the recent "bully awareness" trend might just yield more stupidities of this nature. It sounds like it's a new Zero Tolerance...

Watched Beetlejuice at a friend's house this evening (I guess technically last evening now -- I hear the railroad train gearing up for the morning outside.) I guess, perhaps that it speaks to my immaturity, but I was *ahem* a bit older when the movie came out... and I still enjoyed the cartoon. I always viewed the movie and the cartoon as two completely separate realities, though- no continuity connection whatsoever, a parallel universe in which Lydia and Betelgeuse where somewhat different from the start, and the Maitlands never existed.

They are making a version of it here, the trilogy of books which it is the first of have all been been made into films in Sweden where it was written, and so they are making Hollywood versions. If they do as well as the Swedish ones as far as taking the book and adapting it to the screen, well then they should have a hit.
