So the bank had frozen my account for "suspicious activity" (that is, me withdrawing money in Scotland) so, to celebrate getting that lifted and finally being able to pay my rent I got some coffee and pastries at a place called Truva.* It's a little pricy but the stuff was good enough that it might be worth it. Honey-sweetened middle eastern desserts are really really good if you're in a country that has good tasting honey, and their Turkish delights were nice and fresh, and they sweeten the Turkish coffee so it's not too bitter. I'll be back there!

*Actually I was there because it was freezing and snowing today, and between the extra 30lbs of clothing I had on and my shoes getting all soaked through** I was really tired and wanted a rest.

**It seems to not matter if you try to dress warmly, especially when it comes to socks, because the rain/slushy snow will just get them. Warm bulky clothes just behave like sponges to soak up all the more water and chill you worse.

So in addition to my Turkish Delight and kadaif, I had some more fudge, a milk cake, a few cookies, aloo saag, and broccoli-bacon pasta. I feel like that Taco Bell commercial they used to have, where the guy goes around cheerfully screaming, "I'm FULL!"

I also bought some beeswax at the art supply store because the one magic shop in town is kind of unreliably open and even if they are open they are kind of unreliably stocked. So with my own beeswax I can form my own candles if needed (it's hard to hand-mould paraffin because it melts at too high a temperature to comfortably handle, beeswax meanwhile can be melted and shaped without blistering your hands.)

And I got some nice photos of snowy Greyfriars, and then tampered with some of them on Photobucket.
