Still trying to recover from commedia dell'arte day -- the fact that the first thing I did afterward was rearrange all the furniture in my room and give it a thorough cleaning probably contributed to the lingering exhaustion and difficulty resuming my normal projects.

Anyway, I now have a nice clean room, and still am not resuming my normal projects but I'm keeping busy at least.

There's an old product called Temple Incense that L.W. De Laurence talks of frequently in his Obeah Bible (written circa 1898.) He recommends it as THE all purpose incense to use. I was able to acquire a sample of this incense from an old package, and am trying to determine what's in it. It's definitely mostly sandalwood -- the old catalogue ads from the De Laurence Company say it's "Sandalwood and Patchouly" scented, but there are some other elements. I think it probably has some cinnamon and frangipani, among other things - this based on slow-burning a little and on actually eating a bit of it to try to figure it out. It smells something like nag champa, really.

Over the weekend I went to the Fiery Foods Show in Albuqueruque, which is kind of like a trade show almost, where it's folks selling (usually) spicy sauces which you get to sample and buy if you like them. I bought 3 items there, none of which were spicy, curiously -- though I kind of came to regret not buying the only really hot hot-sauce I tried, something called Panama Red. That one had me sucking on air trying to cool my mouth down after eating it.
The 3 things I bought were: Sauce Goddess Moroccan Twist rub, Sauce Goddess Super Chunk rub, and Sweet and Saucy Frank's Whiskey Caramel sauce. Expensive sauces though!

I'm also trying to get rid of my violin -- I'd like to be able to trade it in for a 3/4 size (mine's full size but that's a bit large for me.) Trouble is it seems to just be too crappy of a violin, so no one wants to allow a trade-in; and I just don't care enough about violins anymore to spend $400 on one by itself.

And talking of other expensive things, I bought a new corset back in the start of January, and the site I ordered from gave an estimate of 3-5 weeks. It's been 2 months now and it's still not here, though I wrote to the corsetiere asking what was up, and she said it's finally been shipped. Hopefully it will get here.

And that's the Monday update.
