I am noticing a tendency for sales of my books to increase on what I can only assume are paydays -- about every 2 weeks there seems to be a burst of sales, then nothing.

So far I am still making due with the old broken computer, I have gotten it to stay turned on by moving it to the kitchen. It seems that if it sits on a stable surface it can stay on okay -- my bed was apparently too shakey. Still, I need to buy a new one, and I don't like that. I am all for spending money to buy things that will improve my life but I HATE having to spend money, especially large amounts that took months to earn, for the sake of maintaining my crappy life the way it is. It's like working for months and months for nothing -- no progress, no improvement, just the same old misery, and now you don't even have cash to spare for candy or books or fancy soap or any of those little things that make it more tolerable. If I were happier with current conditions this concept of paying for maintenance might not offend me so. As it is, I work and work and work this life that revolves around promotion and backlinks, and now have to spend everything I made for the last 3-4 months so that I'll be able to work even more.

Meanwhile my younger sister has just moved into a house of her own with her boyfriend. Maybe I'll visit her at some point -- they are about 2 blocks away from where I currently live.

I also got a "new" (second hand) dress just in time for it to be too hot out to wear it. Black velvet isn't a great fabric for the spring and summer, but hopefully I will be a similar weight by next autumn and can make use of it then. Or maybe we'll get a few more cold days and I can get a couple good uses of the gown before things warm up too much.

i hear you! i've the dubious pleasure of working in London, but i live 150 miles away. thus, i spend hours on the train, days away from my wife, my cat, my own bed... money's good, and the job's taxing but almost enjoyable... on the other hand, what i earn through gainful employ and the sweat of my mind, is siphoned straight out of my pockets by the rail company and city prices. ho hum. modern life is rubbish!
