Curses, I need to buy new shoes. The ones I have got a hole in them, and the heels are all ground down on one side so I can't easily stand without my foot turning onto its side. I tend to go for character shoes meant for dance, as it saves me the trouble of ever-changing fashion; but I'm wondering if I might go for... Read More
I am back from my New Orleans trip! Actually I have been back for a few days, but I was so busy trying to catch up on work this is the first chance I've had to update the blog here.
Let's see... so. our traveling party was of three: Myself, my sister Julia, and her friend Sam aka Spike. We were going to drive straight... Read More
Sounds like a very fine adventure. I admire your taste in breakfast fare. Santa Fe on the other hand, does sound fairly hideous, rather like what I've seen of Tucson, Arizona--bleak.
For mother's day, I took my mom, who is a Trekkie, to see the new Star Trek film. She enjoyed it: she was in tears before the opening credits, cheered the uses of classic lines, and sang along with the reprise of the theme song at the end (for, she is a coluratura as well). Then we all drove back home blasting her beloved Tanz-Metal.... Read More
Having determined that to pay for a 10x increase in bandwidth on the tarot site, I'd need a 12x increase in sales for it to be worthwhile, and that that doesn't look like good math, I'm now moving on to other possibilities. I happened to have gotten invited to do some in-person tarot readings at an event this evening, so perhaps I will focus more... Read More
To see if I state it correctly, the problem that you are having with your sheet music is that no computer program will do what you need it to do, and also you can not do it neatly enough by hand ? How many sheets/pages are involved?
Honestly, I've no ideas. But if I can spell the problem out clearly, I'll talk to some people I know, a graphical artist and a musicians/composer, and see if either of them have any ideas.
I'm not sure what to do about my poor website I got a bandwidth overage fee this month, and unfortunately to stop getting these fees I need to upgrade the amount of bandwidth I can use, which will cost me too much money (about $110 a year, to be paid upfront; which is most of my bank account.) I usually only make like $20 to... Read More
Bandwidth usage is a mystery to me. I'm developing my own website and all they say is buy the minimum and wait for it to get used up before you upgrade. I have no idea what it will use.
I think I got everything I needed sent in for the new book, called Death and Destruction -- should be availible on Amazon in a week or two. In celebration, I decided to break in my new karaoke file of the song from which I got the title (that would be "Tod und Verzweiflung.")
I wish I could claim an incredibly discerning ear so that any compliments I might pay would carry more weight, but what I can say is that I quite enjoyed listening. Thank you.
If I couldn't catch the occasional word of German, I would never have guessed just how dire this aria is... and after reading the translation and a bit about the context... yikes. I think that if Lady Macbeth had opened a bed and breakfast and the Queen of the Night decided to stay there, it would be under new management come morning...
Die Zauberflte is my favorite opera, and that is, I admit, my favorite aria. Only Mozart could take such venom and render it in such soaring maleficence it is virtually angelic. It's the "darkness visible" of Milton.
Getting ready to send my next book to the printers. There's a space on the form where I'm supposed to fill out a biography on myself; I figured, 'I will just write whatever comes to mind, surely that will be adequate.' I came out with --

It seems unlikely to me that the author of a book of curses would gain any credibility by professing breathless love, or even passing fondness, for anything save destruction and mayhem themselves. And the otherwise bloodless corporate phrase, "target audience," itself acquires an interesting twist of menace when used in association with such a work, methinks.
I don't think love for all humanity, sunshine, and fluffy bunnies is required from an author of a book on curses.
My only complaint would be that the quote changes from third to first person in midstream.
It's funny, but the newer, 2009 cartoony Suicide Girls logo (to the top left of your screen: chick with pigtails) looks dreadfully like my old Mary Sue*, who was named Mortis because my Latin was total shit back then when I was 13 or 14 (that my teachers kept confiscating my Latin grammars, since I wasn't supposed to be reading them in their classes about... BTW: I would be very surprised to find you didn't own some of those books, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that one of them you owned was the Josephus.
I'm glad to hear that recovery is underway. I'm with you as far as requiring animal sacrifice; although I've stricken mammals from my menu, I've yet in this life to work up any significant degree of sympathy for fish or domestic fowl.
Escher is almost like a form of calibration for me; no matter now I change, or how I am looking at the world at the moment, it has the same feel and same mood to it.
I was also looking at some choices from Drer, but they didn't take the reduction as well.
Back from the dentist -- $450, for the World's Biggest FIlling. He said it'll probably need a crown eventually but this should do for now. He was aware I didn't have much money.
Apparently it broke just about as far as it could without needing a root canal. For now, because this is currently made of more filling than tooth, I'm still supposed to avoid... Read More
