The walls we build around us to keep out the sadness also keep out the joy.
~ Jim Rohn
Just a quote. I get one a day in my email. This came today and I feel that it has always been a very big part of my life. I wanted to share with all of you.
I've dealt with very hard times in my life, and sometimes for no reason at all. I tried to shut it out and protect myself from more difficulties. All that ever did was took the joy out of living. The sadness was still there. I have a philosophy that if I trust people and am open and honest, there will be moments when people will take advantage of that or hurt me. But the rest of the time, it will make my life better, more enjoyable, stronger, more full of experience, and more worth looking back on. I want to live. But I've found that there is a balance I can't avoid. I will take the bad with the good. I want the good and can always learn or benefit eventually from the bad.

While I do agree that good/bad coexist and can't be separated, it doesn't mean that you can't celebrate one whilst tolerating the other. Take the joys when they come, learn from the bad when it happens. Without the consequence life doesn't have the same "flavor", and without taking risk you cannot truly attain the reward.

I've always liked " That which we condone, we promote ".
