I have spent the last few weeks gathering signatures for a petition to get on the local ballot this November in my ward. The minimum required is 70 signatures, I have 132 by my count. They tell us to get at least twice as many signatures as the minimum requirement, because of disqualifications for one reason or another (writing is illegible, wrong address, filled out...

Well, I applied for a new open position with the county, and it looks like I have an actual shot at this one. It's a records department position, and the starting salary is over $16 an hour. Which would be pretty sweet, if I manage to land the job. I'll keep you posted on any other developments.

good luck.

Fucking Hell.

Friday my computer got all fucked up, something apparently got corrupted in Windows XP forcing me to re-install Windows and lose everything that was on my main hard drive. Fortunately I had a friend who was kind enough to come up from Warren, Ohio and help me re-install Windows from one of his disks. See, I bought my computer second-hand and I didn't...

A bit of an update:

I got a call earlier from Ohio Savings Bank, and they decided not to hire me for the bank teller position. However, one of my friends did e-mail me a posting for a job opening downtown and I have an interview tomorrow at 1:30. Which means the beard, still more stubble than actual growth, has to come off. I haven't heard back from Ohio Savings Bank, and it's been a week and a half since the interview so I'm going to go on the assumption I didn't get the job. Oh well, back to square one.

I've decided to try growing a full beard. I'll probably shave it off eventually, since having some Cherokee and Comanche in me I've never really been able...

Thursday I had a job interview with Ohio Savings Bank. They said they may have a teller position open for me at one of their branch offices, and I should hear back in a couple of days. A friend who works for them had referred me to the company, which I certainly am grateful for. Let's hope this one pans out.

Just a bit of an update on the job hunt.

Yesterday I attended a resume workshop and really cleaned up my resume. It's now down to one page, and is in a form prospective employers won't automatically trash. A friend of mine who works for Ohio Savings Bank sent it in to HR for two job openings, both of which start off at pretty decent...

I am bored. And depressed. I got a call today from the HR director at the county, where I applied for an account clerk position. My name did not make it onto the short list of people to be contacted for interviews.

After months of waiting, my chances of gainful employment in the public sector are now doomed. Oh well. Back to Square One.

On...
