I was riding on the bus the other day.
I sat near the front and noticed a girl wearing fuzzy leopard-spotted ears on her head. She was attired in torn and grimey- but rather hip looking, 'skater' type clothing. I wondered if she'd ever heard of suicidegirls, she looked like some kind of future prototype. But she was obviously half my age and I knew it would've been creepy of me to try to strike up a coversation with her. The first undsiputed unwritten rule of bus riding is don't talk to people you don't know, ever. Anyone who breaches this rule is looking for trouble.
I had the seat directly across from her and we sort of stared at each other in silence for the duration of the bus ride untill she reached her stop and got out. She wasn't "hot" or anything, more like plain-looking and unassuming. But she held her head up in an almost defiant manner, and sat up straight- like she was proud. And I guess that's what I found most attractive about her.
Our eyes locked occasionally, and ever so slightly- her lips would curl up at the corners in a sly, knowing smile. And then she'd look away again. I had a crazy sense of deja vu, like we'd met somewhere. She reminded me of a girl I used to see on the bus I took to work (this is when I still had a job) back in Arizona many years ago.
This is another poor excuse to start smoking pot again, but I don't need more moments like this and I have no use for deja vu or girls who are unattainable. My life was so much easier when I had tunnel vision. And I was a lot happier riding the bus stoned than I am riding it in a state of sharp clarity.
