Learning to Fly

I love getting work by different artists, even though my favorites are all by the same artist. :) Most of them were done in or around the St. Louis area. This tattoo was done at Iron Age Studio in St. Louis.

This tattoo I got in part for the Beatles song, "Blackbird", as it was one of my favorite songs when I moved away from home and went to college at 18. I had a friend on the same hall of my dorm and she enlightened me on a lot of really great music (yes, mostly while stoned, lol). But I remember these words really sticking with me, not just in my mind, but leaving a deep impression on my heart and soul. I remember because I did feel "broken" and unable to really figure things out for a long time (largely due to my addiction). Now, let's be honest, I can still think and feel this way, however, I now understand that I am not broken and that my brokenness is for my good to learn how to heal. I also believe that in our brokenness is where we find our strength (also, just like my addiction).

When we really learn that there is no failure, only repeated lessons and growth, then we can really learn how to fly.

At least you got the tattoo when you weren't stoned, unlike a few folk who get drunk and wake up with a tattoo they know little about apart from some crazy alcohol filled idea "let's al get tattoos of a bucket". Crazy question for you. As you have a lot of tatoos, do you ever wish you could move this, one here and swap that one for the other there, like wanting to move furniture around to re-arrange the room for better use of the space?

No, my tattoos are all intentional (even the one cover up) so I enjoy where they are and what they represent.
