So today, while digging through my storage unit, I knocked over my green backpack. And out came my Key to Hell pendant and the hamsa pendant my former friend (and yes, I do mean former as in there is a reason we are not friends anymore) brought me back from Israel.
This means nothing to all of you, but I thought I'd lost those back in New Orleans. The Key to Hell will be familiar to those of you who read the Sandman comics, and was made by this lovely couple of jewelers in New Orleans, and the hamsa is supposed to protect you from the evil eye. I feel like my luck is finally changing. Maybe that's too much to read into finding some lost jewelry, but oh well. It made my week.
I mean, aside from the Red Sox demolishing the Yankees.
Actually, I am vaguely disturbed by that. Because I promised them sometime during game 6 that if they just beat the Yankees, I'd never talk shit about baseball again. So now I guess I have to be a baseball fan.
At least it's given me something to do in the absence of hockey, Aside from hating George Bush, which really doesn't count as a hobby.
I've gotten a response from one job application I sent in Philly. Unfortunately, it's only part-time and I'll need to find something else, but at least it's a step. So I can try and line up an interview and get a real job while I'm in Philly. Speaking of that, those of you in the PA area should hang out with me next week, and check out my rad Halloween costume.
I'm going to be Axl Rose, and my sister is going to be Slash. I found a wig, and the rest of it is easy.
So, pretty good day. Now I'm wiped and watching Mean Girls for the third time. Tina Fey rocks it. Maybe she should be vice-president when we nominate Jon Stewart for President.
*edit. I have realized that I do not own CD's by a lot of bands that I like and that I damn well should own. But I probably never get around to it because it's hard to decide which one to buy first. So if you can recommend the best record by Bad Brains, Black Flag, Bob Dylan, Kate Bush, Wu-Tang, and any band that you think everyone should own.
In return, I offer that everyone should have Rain Dogs by Tom Waits, The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave, Patti Smith's Horses, Lucero's Tennessee, and something by the Dead Kennedys and the Descendents.

I was just listening to Rain Dogs today. We can talk about Dylan the next time we chat...
His best and, oddly, probably his most accessible.
