I stayed up all night once just to watch you sleep.

I think I cried, but I don't remember anymore. I remember you ground your teeth, and you hadn't back in the days when I shared your bed regularly. I brushed hair out of your eyes and rested my head on your chest and wondered what made your sleep so nervous now.
That was the first time you'd ever said no to me. I was supposed to sleep on the couch, but I couldn't. Not with you in the next room. I'd slept on the couch for you once before, because I'd always do anything to be close to you. You told me over and over that you weren't good enough for me, that I'd end up with someone else, but I would have done anything to help you. I held your hand when I could, but I couldn't always be there and in between times, you convinced yourself I couldn't help.
You never believed me, but I always believed in you.
