Saw the Libertines last night. Jesus fucking holy christ, they rocked the fuck out. I wouldn't have gone to the gig if I wasn't reviewing it (and hence it was free) because I'm not that in to the 'Tine's recorded ouevre. But bloody hell I'm glad I did go. Four spunky English fellas with cool hair and nice shoes rocking out and drinking scotch. The crowd went nuts, and I'm guessing a fair proportion of the males in the crowd were seriously questioning their heterosexuality.
The Elliott Smith tribute night at the basement was brilliant. Lovely performances. They really did Elliott's work justice, which is easier said than done. Drank a lot of white wine. No surprises there.
Seeing Brides Of Destruction on Saturday. They sound retarded, and the fact that Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue and Stacey...whateverhisname is from LA Guns are in the band tend to affirm that claim.
Also seeing Dallas Crane and the Cops next Tuesday which should be fun. This free gig thing really isgood to me sometimes.
Irrelevantly, post-Libertines my mates and I all hit the piss. Went to Bar Broadway, one of the more mediocre pubs in the city. But last night it delivered. Best music selection ever. Are there better songs to sing along to than Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart, The Cure's Boys Don't Cry and Simple Minds' Don't You Forget About Me. You know what? They're all good songs. There, I said it. What a controversial opinion.
