And now, for an entry.
I just skipped out of my Social Problems class. The TA decided to show a PBS documentary that I had already been shown in my Sociology 101 class. That's fine, but I actually liked the grad student who taught my Sociology 101 class. He said things like "shizzle my nizzle," and he really made the class interesting. His class? It didn't suck. Now that documentary is tainted for me.
On my way to the library to play on the computer, I was stopped by a cute, blond boy. I thought maybe he was promoting an event at a club, and I thought he wanted me to be there because I'm so fucking cute, he just had to have me at his party. Yeah, it was an unlikely prospect, but I'm stupid that way sometimes. I was all smiles and sunshine, and then he mentioned that he was part of a non-profit Baptist ministries on campus, and my brain wasn't even functioning at that point. I was so disappointed. My face must have visibly fallen. Before he could finish his sentence, I muttered, "Oh, I'm an athiest," and I started walking away. He god blessed me "anyway." I'm not even an atheist, I'm agnostic. I guess I told him I was an atheist because I thought he might try to convert me if I was agnostic? Because I was confused and needed to be shown the way, and an agnostic's mind is more malleable than an atheist's?
I don't know if what I did and said to that cute missionary dude was right or appropriate. I feel kind of guilty about it. I'm really weird about religion, probably because I grew up without it. A church or synagogue probably would've fucked me up more than I already am, but I can't know for sure.
However, I did get involved with a religion later in my life. When I was a young adolescent, my mom got involved with the Unitarian Universalist church and convinced me to come. I did. And the youth group wasn't bad at all. One of the youth group leaders was a bisexual meteorologist, another was gay, gay, gay. There were a lot of gay, lesbian, and bisexual/bi-curious kids in the group. I remember this one sweet, gay boy. He went to a magnet school, I think. He was very cute. I recall him coming up to me and saying, "I wore eyeliner!" Because he knew I liked androgyny and makeup on boys. Awww. I miss that sometimes.
Everything was very sex-positive. I was also part of the church's Amnesty International. The minister at the Church never once brought up god in his sermons. His sermons were focused on humanism. But then he moved away, and the new minister talked about god's love and acceptance, and that's when we left the church.
Hmmm. I should probably be studying for that language development test.Stop, fricative, affricate, nasal, liquid, trill, lateral, glide, retroflex, tap, flap. Labial, dental, labiodental, alveolar, palatal, velar, glottal. Obstruents, sonorants, sibilants. I have to write out the definitions of the manners of articulation, because I will never be able to memorize them. I'm totally going to fail. Stops - Air flow is stopped and then released quickly. Fricative - Air flow is released gradually. Affricate - Air flow is stopped and then released gradually. Nasal - Air flow is channeled through the nasal passages. Liquid - Air flow is channeled around the sides of the tongue; subdivided into trills and laterals. Trill - Air flow makes the articulator's lips, tongue, and/or uvula vibrate. Lateral - Air flows freely out by the sides of the tongue. Glide - Air flow is partially restricted; aka semi-vowels. Retroflex - The tip of the tongue is curled up and back to touch the area behind the alveolar ridge. Tap - The tip of the tongue hits the roof of the mouth once in an up and down movement. Flap - The tip of the tongue is curled up like a retroflex before hitting the roof of the mouth.
So it's LDLAPVG. Okay. I can memorize that. Learning Disorder, LAP, Vigi. SFANLTGRTF. Sex, FAN, Less Than Great, RTF -- like adobe acrobat, hey! Okay. Yay!
