I would guess you are right as to the cause of the beeping. If it does start driving you crazy I suggest this:
Shove some sheets of newspaper as far under the door of the empty apartment as you can. Then light the still exposed end of the newspapers. The annoying intermittent beeping should stop after that.

I know I'll be fine for now, but I also know that anxiety meds and alcohol work on the same neurotransmitter sites... which, from what I understand, is why you aren't supposed to mix them.... it's like overdosing on a particular neurotransmitter mimic... I think the end result is you end up getting yourself extra addicted to alcohol...
