The city center and port area of Rio de Janeiro are full of horror stories.

Many areas of the city are marked by stories of suffering, injustice and torture!

At Cais do Valongo (UNESCO World Heritage Site), in the port area of Rio, where many slaves brought from Africa disembarked, who often died there, it is still possible to hear the noise of handcuffs and chains when walking through the region at night.

Prisons like Fortaleza de Santa Cruz, which served as a prison during the Coup of 64, the period in which the military dictatorship began in our country, you can hear moans and cries.

Former asylums, places where there are now university campuses and an infinite number of museums and historic buildings carry stories that will give even the most skeptics chills!

Even the Pedro Ernesto Palace, the seat of our City Council, would have several souls in danger as there would be ruins of a chapel that held satanic cults in the place where it was built!

One of the tourist spots in Rio de Janeiro that I frequent the most, also has its macabre part (of course)!
The Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro!

One in two people who work in the theater say it's bizarre to work there! (I think the other half works during the day 😅)

One of the most famous ghosts in the Municipal Theater is Gabrielle Réjane, a French actress, who has even been seen by the current architect.

I really enjoyed writing this blog and if I were to talk about the history of every place in Rio I wanted, this blog would be huge!

Rio de Janeiro is definitely not for amateurs!
