Todd McFarlane is one of the most popular and controversial comic book creators ever. He established his popularity in the late 80s drawing Marvel superhero books as The Incredible Hulk and The Amazing Spider-Man. Then in the early 1990s, in a uproarious and unprecedented move McFarlane and a few of the hottest Marvel creators stopped doing Marvel books and formed their own company, Image Comics....

Few bands in the last few years have made such on impact on rock music and music in general than The Strokes. Their first album, 2001s Is This It, set the bar very high in terms of sales and critical raves that it was inevitable that their sophomore release, Room on Fire, didnt live up to expectations. They have just released their third album,...

Piper Perabo is the sexy young star of such films as Coyote Ugly, Slap Her... She's French and Lost and Delirious. Her latest flick is Imagine Me & You.

On the day of her wedding, Rachel [Piper Perabo] meets Luce [Lena Heady], the florist who did the flower arrangements, but once they become friends, she starts wondering whether marrying Hector [Matthew Goode] was the right...

I absolutely adore Piper Perabo,
Imagine me & You was such an incredible movie, but I always love British romantic movies, and british comedies.

Here's an intentionally lame name-drop. I went to high school in the same town as Piper Perabo...the crosstown school. She was in their theater department. I remember seeing her in Auntie Mame. They had some technical difficulties and the show was delayed. I was also in the theater department in my school and had come with the cast of my show (I think we were doing Anythng Goes) to watch them. We got tired of waiting and bailed on them. Then, I guess to get back at us they came to OUR opening night and loudly stormed out right after the opening lines. biggrin

toms river?

my friend's mother was one of her teachers.

Big surprise! Underworld: Evolution is a good film. This is a rare case of a sequel being much better than the original. This second film takes off nearly exactly at the end of the first. Now that the death dealing vampiric Selene [Kate Beckinsale] and the hybrid werewolf/vampire Michael [Scott Speedman] have defeated the evil leader of the vampires now they must stop the founder...

Underworld 2 wasn't all that good, IMO. Honestly I picked it up on DVD opening day and it's still wrapped on my shelf. Part cause I'm an OCD case, I just had to buy it, two cause I haven't been in the mood to watch it. whatever
argene:

It was a bit frustrating for me because the film still didn't reveal exactly how lycans/vampires were created. We got a good bit of backstory, but no concrete answer. Also, out of the original trio, we've got things from Marcus and Victor's point of view (but not Amelia's-she didn't say a work through the two films).

Thanks for the great interview with Kate Beckinsale . . I just love her to death!

You surely had to enjoy that assignment!

Despite what some others may think . . . I really enjoyed Pearl Harbor.

Back in 1970s Wes Craven turned the movie world on its ear with horror films such as Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes. He had even greater success in the 80s with A Nightmare on Elm Street. But unlike many of his contemporaries who have fallen on hard times and made crappy film after crappy film, Craven has had great success...

Is it just me or does the little picture of Wes Craven look a lot like James Garner? Maybe I just really like the Rockford Files is all.
jason:
wes craven is interviewed in the documentary 'inside deep throat'. he used to work in porn but wouldnt name any of his projects in that movie. i wonder what he's concerned about now that he is so well established.

Gregory Crewdsons photographs have an immediate recognizable aesthetic. They are beautiful, eye catching and often times telling and depressing. His use of high contrast lighting and melancholy poses has made him a favorite of the art world and his work on the Six Feet Under campaign has given him mainstream recognition. His work has been shown in galleries all over the world while still reflecting...

Awwww...Greg!

He was one of my teachers for two years--it's funny to see him get interviewed here right after me.

I always liked the early "Hover" pictures best.

Early on in his career everyone knew that Steven Soderbergh was an innovative and brilliant filmmaker. But no one had any idea that he would eventually have such an effect on the business side of making films. Bubble is the first film in a series of six that will be shot on high definition video and be released on three platforms at once, theatrical, DVD...

Yeah, I see how that format works, and it's different. That's more of the traditional "synergy" marketing strategy where today's up and comers and uber-hipsters get mixed up together, and TV show soundtracks are part of the deal and the songs feature prominently in the show. This one's different in that it's not synergy-driven, the songs don't feature prominently at all (and there are plenty of them in every episode), and as so far been seen the show's development hasn't called for soundtrack CD's. However they manage to pull it off, I applaud it, it's done subtly and adds more depth to the story and characters (however outlandish they may be).

But getting back to animated programming, I've heard rumblings from some people who worked on Futurama that Fox and Groening are talking about reviving that show, as they did with Family Guy...
