I think it's unfortunate when anyone says "There's nothing new that's come along." It's a questions of looking. If you're don't put in the effort and don't look around you won't find new music, but it's always around, if only relegated to the smallest labels at times... but that's why the small labels are there.
I don't have a beef with TG, I just hate when people say that. They get into the silly music-journalist perception that a bunch of bands have to get together and say "This is the new scene!" or "This is now the town with cool bands," and I think that view of things is completely artificial.

i wasnt a big fan of Tim's until the last three years or so of his tenure on SNL. i really think he came into his own with the Ladies' Man and once he was a respected cast member. Well I think Tim's problem was that he bombed in two mediums at the same time. The Ladies Man flopped at the same time the incredibly unfunny Micheal Richards show rightfully bombed. I mean I feel so bad for Tim getting wrapped up in that Michael Richards mess, I mean it must have seemed sure fire at the time, "Everyone loves Kramer."
