Actors dont like to be called character actors for some reason. I dont know why. They always seem to take umbrage when I say that but I think its a compliment of the highest order. But maybe they think if they get put in that box they will have trouble getting leading roles. Anyway John C. Reilly is one of the best. Of the three...

After Will Smith Queen Latifah is the only person to have crossed so successfully into hip-hop, movies and television. Even though Queen received her first Oscar nomination for her performance in 2002s Chicago she still hasnt forgotten her music or comedy roots. Her next album is being released this month, her next big budget movie is Taxi with Jimmy Fallon and her latest is a...

total personal opinion, but i don't like the image portrayed by queen latifa (methodman and redman as well for that matter). i think it just supports ethnic labeling to a gross degree. but that's just me.

thats a weird statement from a man who's SG name is CuntParade

Well, your profile pic is a pussy! Or am I taking this too far?

Cattle Decapitation is definitely one of the grossest bands out there. Any band whose album cover is a cow shitting its guts out gets thumbs up from me. Theyre a pro-vegetarian band whose politics and lyrics reflect that aspect. I got a chance to speak with Cattle Decapitations lead singer Travis Ryan, who often sports a mask made of beef jerky, about their new album...

Cosey Fanni Tutti has plainly stated that she regrets nothing she has ever done but some of it she would never do again. Thank god one of those things wasnt doing at least one more show with Throbbing Gristle next April. Also theyve released an album they call A Taste of TG which is actually what it says it is. This album will draw you...

I think it's unfortunate when anyone says "There's nothing new that's come along." It's a questions of looking. If you're don't put in the effort and don't look around you won't find new music, but it's always around, if only relegated to the smallest labels at times... but that's why the small labels are there.

I don't have a beef with TG, I just hate when people say that. They get into the silly music-journalist perception that a bunch of bands have to get together and say "This is the new scene!" or "This is now the town with cool bands," and I think that view of things is completely artificial.
I once shot an improv home-art movie with a friend of mine in high school, and TG was the soundtrack.

Alison Maclean has had a long history of film in her life. She was originally born in Canada but moved to New Zealand where a film industry was burgeoning. She made numerous short films then wrote and directed Crush with Marcia Gay Harden, which is a very disturbing film about love interests gone wrong. For the next few years she directed a lot of the...

Who the hell wasnt freaked out when Dave Mustaine got hurt and announced he was disbanding Megadeth? Just for the band to break up is bad enough but then to know that Mustaine might never have played music again was scary. But luckily Mustaine rebounded and is now releasing, The System has Failed, Megadeths final album even though none of the other guys from the...

One year after 9/11, an American journalist travels to Afghanistan in an effort to learn the truth about the search for Osama bin Laden. Thats the premise of Christian Johnstons film September Tapes. But if you watch the film and then read about it you will find thats its a bit of the Blair Osama Project. The American journalist, Don Larson, is actually an actor...

i must admit, this is the first i've even heard of this film, but it looks really interesting. the makers must have had balls of steel to go there with the lack of military backup and the price on westerners heads.

and how scary is this comment -

It’s interesting because we self financed this film and to get opinions from the Northern Alliance Forces and Taliban describing what their list of demands were, which I think most people don’t know much about, we can have things in this film that even some of the United Nations people weren’t aware of

it doesn't say much for military intelligence when they have to get their information from self-financed indie filmmakers surreal

The Yes Men have been causing havoc posing as the World Trade Organization all over the world but have yet to reach a wide audience that could appreciate them. So when the Yes Men asked American Movie director, Chris Smith, to make a movie about them, we were lucky he didnt say no.

The Yes Men first started getting mistaken for the World Trade Organization...

Giovanni Ribisi is definitely one of the most exciting young actors out there. No matter what his role is in any movie, big or small when he is onscreen your eyes go right to him. He is just electrifying and even though hes got the sidekick role in Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow you cant help but marvel at his work. It is...

Disinformation isnt what you think. Its not gangsta rappers putting you down but actually the real information coming to you from a company that isnt affiliated with Turner, Murdoch or any of the other mega-corporations.

The founder of Disinformation is Richard Metzger a small town boy who made good. Disinformation get its dope to you by way of books Book of Lies, DVDs of their...

I dont know how many people in the SG community has had to deal with rappers on a professional level. But I used to work on hip-hop television show and I cant remember any time where the rap artists showed up on time and the movie junket for The Cookout was no different. The funny thing is that the only person who showed up on...

i wasnt a big fan of Tim's until the last three years or so of his tenure on SNL. i really think he came into his own with the Ladies' Man and once he was a respected cast member. What happened to his popularity is fairly typical when one has a bomb movie like The Ladies Man. i think that movie is hysterical but who knows maybe the success of Mean Girls will rub off on him
gigantor138:
Well I think Tim's problem was that he bombed in two mediums at the same time. The Ladies Man flopped at the same time the incredibly unfunny Micheal Richards show rightfully bombed. I mean I feel so bad for Tim getting wrapped up in that Michael Richards mess, I mean it must have seemed sure fire at the time, "Everyone loves Kramer." Also, it's just hard to imagine a show as bad as the Micheal Richards show. So anyway, i think that's what really hurt Tim.

I didnt expect Jet Li to hardly speak any English when I met him. It turns out that he spends hours learning to speak his lines in American movies in order for them to sound natural. But that didnt stop me from having a great conversation with the man. Hes so intense in his movies but in person he was jolly and it was a...

Great interview, it makes sense now why he retired. He was putting his family first and chosing what he wants for his career and not just go where ever it took him.

It was a beautiful film, it's more of an artistic historic re-enactment. Rather than a fist fishting bow blazing movie.

biggrin
