I kept kind of glancing surreptitiously at the book as I shelved, because it looked potentially interesting but it had been put in general fiction, which is usually not my thing. And then I decided to heck with it, and grabbed it, and read it. And it absolutely blew me away. So utterly romantic, such wonderful play with the time travel concept...I recommend it to anyone. Absolutely anyone.

Well, except maybe the people who'll only read Christian fiction. But they don't know what they're missing.

This is my favorite book ever. I reccomend it to everyone I talk to. I cried in the end, I was touched, I couldn't put it down, and I've read it three times since.
Now that the movie is coming out..I know everyone will be interested, but I can tell it won't be the same as the emotions I get when reading the book. It is absolutely amazing.

I caught The Girl From Monday at the Clinton St. theater in Portland a couple weeks ago... pretty sparsely attended, unfortunately. It was a lot of fun, though, and Sabrina Lloyd is a perfect addition to Hartley's "stable" of actors.

And that's pretty funny that Hartley fans are supposed to be somber & skinny. Ever since I saw Trust when it was released back in 1991, I've foisted Hartley movies on my friends... but nobody who knows me would consider me somber, and nobody who's seen me would consider me skinny... wink

Yeah, I was pleased with Flight Vol. 2 and Four Letter Worlds which I got at the same time. When someone told me about Flight originally, my reaction was, "Wait...Image published this?" Seeing smaller people's work and new talent (like our Mr. McK up there) being pushed makes me optimistic for the medium. Especially since it seems to be doing pretty well; the first volume of Flight certainly didn't have anyone like Jeff Smith in it.

So hey, good job man. Keep it up. I'll be watching and writing incoherent diatribes online somewhere if you fuck up, so, you know, that's a pretty scary alternative. Nobody wants that.
