Had some good indian food today and saw "The Terminal", which was so-so.
My computer is pissing me off. It is now completely inoperable until I make a startup diskette. I think I am going to donate it to charity and just use my laptop, hooked up to a docking/port replicator thingy.
It's time for me to start planning for the big move of all... Read More
This is my journal space. It is for people I either know, or who have something to say that may interest me. It is not an open forum for juvenille high-school social games. If you don't like me and we have no established relationship, I simply don't care, and would rather not be confronted by your emotionally arrested stupidity on my home page.
It's always fun to see the convoluted nonsense people come up with when it comes to the subject of vegetarianism/animal cruelty. Things would be so much simpler if we could all just fess up to the reality that our emotional reactions come first, and the high-falutin' rationalizations come afterwards. It doesn't have anything to do with evolution, digestive physiology, deductions from supposedly objective moral standards, God, etc... it has to do with emotional and bodily sensations that accompany seeing or imagining various things being done to animals, and how one deals with them. If people realized this, they would see that there is virtually nothing to argue about... plenty to fight about, but nothing to argue about.
Excellent answer man!!! In all honesty, good post.
Plan is to head up to Madison right after the stupid holiday weekend. Since I have no job, I dislike holidays: stores are closed, kids are usually going nuts near my house, the roads are crowded. Why can't people just work every day? I envision a future of Tuesday after Tuesday, where all the people that annoy me work themselves quietly to exhaustion behind closed... Read More
Yes, and then after the annoying leave thier jobs, they can go striaght to thier annoying homes on the annoying side of town. And stay in the annoying bars and annoying clubs.
Ummm, I think I accidentally moved to annoyingtown, because this is starting to sound a lot like where I live. Damn.
Looks like the puppy is saved! I went back to visit her in the store and didn't like the situation at all. Some of the customers seemed like real dipshits, and the whole puppy-supermarket operation was pretty disturbing.
I did some more looking and was able to find friends of a friend who wanted her. So I went to the store, bought the puppy back... Read More
I very much like your artwork. Especially the skeletal stuff. I have scoliosis and had to get upper torso x-rays like every 6 months through high school. I always wished I could have the x-rays, so very very cool and creepy to look at your own insides.
I'm glad you found a home for such a cute little one ! If I lived closer I would have taken her !
Thank's for the advice on the pictures ... the background sticking out so much hadalways had bothered a bit too.
My next set will be in a graveyard ... which I am really looking forward to... I havn't seen it yet on the site so I hope it goes up this time.
I feel halfway decent today. A couple good nights sleep and a break from too much absinthe seem to have done the trick. I've got my office and all my stuff sorted out pretty well - things are packed into parts of this house so tightly I feel like we're in a damn trailer home. My evictees are supposed to be out this weekend. If... Read More
I took the puppy to the store today. It's not as bad as a normal pet store, but not as good as a rescue group or direct placement. The general humane society and animal shelters down here are almost certain death. That crazy little creature was really driving me insane though, so keeping it for much longer wasn't something I could do. I seriously need... Read More
Wow. Thats gotta be frustrating. Noone really seems to get your point. I think they're so appalled because they are confused. You injected rational pragmatic dialogue into their pc-warm-and-fuzzy-pat-ourselves-on-the-back-post. Fucking earnest zealots. Whats really funny is that they don't realize that your idea/solution is more "liberal" than theirs. I mean, you said that under your scheme parents and kids could take advantage of civil union!! And then they act like you are raining on some parade.
I got into this with some lesbian friends a few months ago. They had written letters to presidential candidates about this issue and wanted me to do the same after I made some brash reactionary comment, as I've been known to make from time to time, like "power to the people" or "fuck the man." Just an infantile gesture of solidarity, dig? So anyway, I told them that if was to write a letter to a presidential candidate I would focus on issues that affect the broad majority of people: health care, jobs, the environment, the growing gap b/w rich and poor, etc. I also happened to comment on how I thought dwelling on issues like abortion, legalizing drugs, gay marriage and the like were divisive issues and did more harm than good. They are issues that the right and GOP love to throw out there as they demonstrate how the left is detached from the "real world." As an example I used some relatives of mine who are staunchly catholic and pro choice and as a result they are republicans. But quiz them on any other platform issues and they lean heavily towards the dems: even taxes. But this ONE ISSUE decided their vote. Imagine if abortion wasn't on the table and a nice chunk of the pro-life people started voting dem.! Its a similar phenomena as blue collar workers voting rebublican when the dem. platform would benefit them so much more. My point is/was that these "boutique" issues that seem to cause so much devisiveness take the limelight off of what are the truly important issues that can raise the standard of living/improve quality of life for a lot of fucking people. And, ultimately, create an environment where more people are informed and won't give a rats ass about what gays and lesbians to. But my lesbian friends just freaked and I only recently got back on their good side.
