For those of you not familiar with local trivia, you may be interested to know that "Wisconsin" is actually a Chippewa word that literally means "laughter of gods". Even less well-known is that there is actually a pun built into the name: by just a slight change in pronunciation, the word also means something similar to the English word "malignancy", "tumor", or "cancer", depending upon the context. Strange but true.
On completely unrelated note, this marks the first time this year that the temperature has climbed above 50 for three consecutive days. Let's all offer a hearty welcome to the gathering clouds of mosquitos on our back porches.
