Great Big Pictures are my people. I deal with a guy named Whitaker Christiansen. If you mention me I'll bet he'll cut you a deal. I've had negs scanned by him that I've blown up to 3 by 4 feet and the picture looked great. And that was with a 35mm negative!

Yeah, I have to go lens shopping myself- al of my lenses are manual focus at the paper, which is okay for news but unacceptable for sports. I need a 70 or 80- 200 that's faster than the speed of sound for Nikon digital- do you know any good hookups?

I thought awhile about what you said ... thank you. I needed to hear it ... I really am happy to have had him in my life. But I really am a diffrent person now (for the better I might add) than when I knew/loved him. And you're right about him being a muse.... that's the best place for him right now.

On a light note .... the puppy is just too cute for it's own good.

I'm on a serious Whiskeytown trip right now.

Turns out Jay Farrar is playing in Gainesville on Thursday at a small coffeehouse. I guess this will make about the third of fourth time in almost three years that a decent gig has come within range of Jacksonville.

Looks like 8/17 is the day I'll start loading the moving truck. I think Dorothy will be leaving on the 12th. These last couple weeks are turning out to be pretty hard. I've got a few more things to tend to, including packing, but overall, I feel overly idle and somewhat depressive. I'm used to being engaged in something that makes me feel productive, but...

Month to month? With a dog? I don't know of any, but theres probably some around . . . . It would take some investigating. I'll see what I can do.
squire:
Yeah, I bet the month to month part will be the most difficult. But with what you are proposing I bet they'll be cool with it. Maybe stress the fact that you have been in their shoes as a landlord. Let me know any potential areas and I'll let you know if its a good idea.

Aww, what an adorable pup! smile

Regarding Photoshop, etc. You don't really need anything more than what you have. I don't do a lot of image processing, for a number of reasons - first off, I'm sort of a purist and second, I simply don't have the time. I did a little editing of the photos for my show, but it was only to do things like remove errant microphones for a cleaner image, etc. Photoshop CS has RAW processing built in, but it's not worth the money - there are cheaper and better RAW converters out there. Both the 300D and the 10D come with RAW conversion software which is okay, but then there's also products like Capture One, which I highly recommend - you can find it at:

http://www.c1dslr.com/

As far as the 10D's ISO 3200 - the camera at that ISO setting is doing the exact same thing you'll be doing in a RAW conversion program, it's all software based, so it alone is not worth the upgrade. The reason you'd want a 10D is because it's more sturdy, it has twice the image buffer (9 images instead of 4) and has better control over white balance. However, know that the 10D mkii is on it's way - probably will be announced in September, and ship in Oct/Nov.

As I said, see if you can use your current Nikon lenses with the D70 - it currently is the best deal, and is significantly better than the 300D/Digital Rebel in many regards.

Good luck!

I looked at this place: house. It was pretty sweet. The pictures don't do it justice. It had so much room. But a little out of my price range and too much room. Heh.
