So I was thinking (dangerous I realize) and I decided it's important that you smoke while we're in Greece. Perhaps you could make a rule not to smoke before sundown. If you quit altogether for the trip you'll be figdety and distracted. Figdety does not look good on a man in my view. Besides a smoke would be the perfect complement to your linen suits and mustache. I'm sure the spinach will do the trick, good thinking.

This weekend promises to be a zoo in Philly. The new "president of Iraq" will be visiting, there is also always a lot of tourism this time of year since the country was founded here, there is a plan to try to break Spains record of the most people Salsa Dancing at one time, their are multiple fireworks displays going on all weekend etc..etc.. My friend is coming down to see me from Brooklyn which is good so at least I'll have good company for all the insanity.

I completely agree. I don't like having an elitist Left. Moore does popularize the appeal of Left-liberal politics. That's a good thing.
My problem comes in when he doesn't offer much of an alternative (he isn't openly advocating even moderate social-democratic politics). Granted, writers like Chomsky and Zinn fill in the gap if people like Moore can attract viewers to a more radical perspective. Still, I think he needs some criticism from the Left when he makes mistakes and isn't being a careful thinker. Forcing a higher standard on him will help him address the criticisms of the Right.
I also think I am harder on Bowling for Columbine because it probably didn't attract many people to the Left. His other works definitely have more social content. Obviously, Fahrenheit 9/11 will have more social content than the previous movie. I don't know if he will offer any positive programme in it though. It will likely be anti-Bush, anti-war, etc. (telling us things we on the Left are not), without telling us what we are.
And yes, I am holding up a rather high standard. I think Moore has the potential to make very small changes and improve the faults I see though.
