A naked magician
wanders muddied fields
of urban splendour
trailing webs of compassion
for the lowliest unseen.
He reassembles buildings
presses trees and flowers
through high-pitched cracks
shivering chords of ecstacy
He unwedges parked cars
melts them down into
singing, flying chimes
of recycled harmony
eternally airborn
playgrounds of glitter
flashing in the wind
He beckons roots unholy
to crawl from the dark
twisting and chanting
skyward
in harmony
without remorse
He pirouettes amazed
on green glass slippers
delirious beneath the enchanted symphony
stroking his beard
of crushed grey tears
wondering why
the misery
can still be heard

i have to recite this poem today in class. 9am, in the midst of a snow storm, reciting poetry. i just woke up and thought i'd see if i actually have it memorized. i do. it's by a canadian poet/activist guy named norman nawrocki. he rocks. i, however, still need another cup of coffee before i can even begin to gently sway.
