Today's excitement:
Hours of lounging around and reading - I've been stealing peeks at this book while I've been visiting the boy lately, while he's off staring at his computer. It started out dull as snot and kinda pissed me off at points, but it had a few suggestions I've found worthwhile. It put a bug up my butt about finding the sort of goals I find fun and useful, which led to the activities of the rest of my afternoon.
Brief trip to the mall - this was really just to hit the closest bookstore on the way home, cause I knew they'd have cheap books of crossword puzzles. I have a complete addiction to certain types of puzzle games mah jong and certain variations of solitaire; I find them to be quite meditative, like crocheting without the eyestrain or big heavy mass of yarn in my lap. While I was there I picked up a couple magazines, one whose cover pissed me off so bad I had to grab it ("Write your own rootkit!" OH MAN, I MUST KILL YOU IN tEH fASE NOW!(*#% ) and another which gave me way too many awesome ideas about modifying clothes I've got hanging around which I got from whatever but can't wear because they need fixing.
Big Girl purchases - Since I was feeling so productive, I decided to go through with getting the couch I looked at on Friday. It's the most beautiful shade of purple (duh
) and nice and curvy. I was informed that it sounded like the boy's couch, which he got for a steal. When I got there I determined, whoa, maybe it is exactly the same couch but a bit more expensive. Nope, in fact, mine is locally made and superbly guaranteed and has no decorative topstitching and a higher back and nicer legs and is on super-duper sale. Okay, that justifies a little extra $... Oh, and did I mention it's purple?
