I finally have time to update. Yaaaaaaaaaaay. [That was a Monty Python style yay, just so you understand]
First of all I want to say a fond farewell to Mike Cole. I graduated with Mike, and all through high school he was one of the few people who were ALWAYS nice to me. If you know anything about my history [which you don't] let's just say it was hard to find someone who was nice to me more than once for a smoke or some drugs. He never treated me like I was less than him, or everyone else. I dated his foster brother at one point in time, and was also friends with his younger brother Zach.
Well, on Sunday morning Mike, and two of his cousins Chelsea and Thomas Idhe were hit by a train near Waco while on their way home. They had another person in the car who is still in the ICU at a hospital here in Lincoln. The three died on impact. I found out Sunday night from a friend, and informed quite a few others. I've been upset since, and cried pretty hard when I found out. The funeral is this Friday at 10 in the morning in York, NE. Reekie is coming with me for support and another friend of mine from high school who knew Mike will be riding with us. This will be funeral number 3 I'll be attending for a friend of mine.
ANYWAYS.
So camping was a blast. We got out to Pawnee around noonish on Friday. We wanted our tent in the shade, and Reekie was complaining that she kept running the spikes into tree roots. You can't have both...unless you have good equipment. And we didn't. But it was a pretty little spot. We had plenty of shit for lunch and dinner. Chilli cheese sausages, yum. Brats cooked in Coconut porter, double yum. And Anaconda Dan brought his own hot dogs. Ick. The first night was ok, I guess. A.D. was a little off and apparently nervous. Next day was better. Reekie had work so I spent the day sitting around watching the lake and talking with A.D. For about an hour we watched the male halves of two mexican couples struggle to put up a net/shelter around their picnic bench. It took them forever, and eventually had to have their wives help them. It was funny. Yeah, racist jokes were thrown around, all in fun. Whatever. Eventually one of the women stood on top of the picnic table and should have been wearing shorts.
Then a couple were setting up camp on the other side of us, and the mom looked like she was excited to camp. The father, a chubby middle aged man looked like he would much rather be sitting on his recliner, with a beer, watching the big game. We ignored them for a while as we watched the mexicans struggle to put up their shelter, but then the couple's son and his girlfriend showed up. A.D. makes a simple statement "Oh look, they have a fat son." I couldn't stop laughing at it. The girls were so excited to camp, and the younger girl was talking to the group of hoodlums next to them and had a good time atleast. I ended up drunk that night, in a tent enjoying dirty times with A.D. and Reekie, but that's besides the point.
We left Sunday morning and while leaving Pawnee, we had to round a corner, speed limit 45mph near a woman's cute little farm house. A.D. ended up locking up one of his tires, smoke rose high, and he plowed along a field of weeds as he glided across mud from the wetlands near the park. His car almost came back out of the ditch, but no. It took two hours to get a towtruck out to us, but the woman's house we were near let A.D. use her AAA card. [We owe alot of thanks to her, she was so kind] But my neck, shoulders, chest, upper back, arms, and feet ended up getting burnt to all hell. It was an event, that's for sure.
Ended up letting A.D. stay at my house with Reekie and I for two days. It had its ups and downs, of course. My interview at Target went VERY well. A.D. took us to buffalo wild wings last night, and I managed to get down two Blazin' wings without ranch. Omg. And before he left, I ended up leaving a body mark across the windshield of his firebird. =] A new experience for me.
This blog is much too long, and I apologize. I'm going to go take care of the rest of the shit I usually do on the internet. =] Hope everyone else is well! Phoenix at Sokol is coming up soon, and so is Franz Ferdinand if I can get the money for tickets. OH! So is Billy Talent. BBQ in Omaha with the SGNE group in August, and hopefully heading into Omaha to see some friends. A new shoot with Reekie, and maybe a solo one shot by Rosaleigh if I get lucky enough! =]
XOXOXO
