Yankees 2, Red Sox 0. Wednesday night parties at elmcitydrunk's 2, my attendence 0. The first stat makes me ecstatic, the second one bums me out. Oh well. Missed last night's debate while I was at school, but I taped it and will probably watch it over the weekend (although FX is showing a marathon of Arrested Development on Saturday starting at noon; I LOVE FX... Rescue Me, The Shield, Nip/Tuck... that's some damn good TV!)
Like I said, I missed the 3rd debate (and the early part of the Yanks/Sox game), but once again, the early polls indicate that Kerry won another one. Outperformed Bush on all three debates. On the surface, that sounds great, but at this point I really don't think it means much. We know that Bush has his supporters who are passionate and vocal, and we know that Kerry has his backers, too. But I don't think either candidate truly did enough to completely distance himself from the other. There remain a lot of undecided voters and either those people will make up their minds at the last moment, or they'll stay home... disgusted by the process and the choices. Here's what to watch for: Fear. The Bush side will do whatever they can to scare voters that Kerry is incompetent and can't handle this dangerous new world. And even though Kerry's avoided the fear tactic in the passs, his side will try to scare voters that Bush's leadership will push this country into further danger. Things will get nasty, they will get ugly and voters will drown in the mud that will be slung because the race is too close, and the stakes are too high. And I'll say this, whoever wins this election will face an unbelieveable shit storm of civil protest throughout their tenure. Might not rival the '60s, but it will come close because the electorate is too polarized, and there are all these political groups and organizations that will continue to operate.
