Things are completely insane, and I need your opinions.
So, even though I've been engaged exactly a week we already have a date and a location. I have all my bridesmaids. My sister is deconstructing my mother's wedding dress next week. I have a big preliminary guest-list of over 170, expecting about 155-165 to attend, with even more people I wish I could add. Plus, I have the upcoming burden of likely $15,000 in expenses to pay for it. I'd like to point out that that's only $3,000 less than I make a year after taxes get taken out (stupid 1099 bullshit...).
My folks are poor, but want to give something. His folks will pitch in some, but neither of us are expecting them to pick up this tab after his sister's overblown wedding last year.
Then I have the more minor issue of the dress. I don't like the color, and I don't think, even with reconstruction, that this dress can be made to look good on me, but my mother feels that its just sitting around and that it hurts us none to try and make it work. As such, my sister will be wrecking my mother's wedding gown, designed by her mother and made by her grandmother. I'm a little uncomfortable with that. But hey,she wants to do it. It will get done.
So here's the query for you to consider.
We both like the ides of getting married at the little beach club that his parent's belong to. They allow weddings there in the off season, so we looked at dates in September and early October when I noticed the coolest date EVER was on the Sunday of a three day weekend. As such, we looked to see if 10/10/10 was available, and sure enough it is, so we are penciled in then.
So now it occurs to me: I'm planning a beach wedding. In October.
This isn't Florida, this is Atlantic Beach. Fall weather in early October. Ceremony outside, reception inside. So the query is, is this too crazy, or just crazy enough to work?
Love to y'all.
