I'm back!!

Actually, I've been sorta here all week, occasionally able to check boards, join groups, comment on blogs, just not enough to blog myself. Even now, on a free night, I on online in little spurts because...

I have a new cat. biggrin
She is in my room hiding under my bed (or any other dark place she can fit, which is most everywhere). She's definitely skittish, but that's to be expected on her first day home. Oh, my little Dina Archaeopteryx. I'll have new pictures soon, probably when she comes out of hiding for more than a few minutes.

The dress rehearsal this morning went wonderfully. I sang in a way that satisfied me enormously (if you knew how hard that is to do, you'd be a happy as I am). My sister took loads of pictures, so I'll make sure to post a good one (or two) this weekend.

I went to my old friend Kristin's wedding last weekend. It was Lutheran, and the pastor sounded like a game show host (and a little like the 'Moviephone' guy). My friend had me read at the service, which was such a pleasure. My boyfriend and sister were both surprised that I was nervous, but I took this request to read to heart. I was so flattered that Kristin asked me, so I wanted to make it special (especially because I was asked because she considered me a terrific speaker. Where did she get this silly idea?). Apparently I didn't do half bad. smile
Outside of the reading, my boyfriend and I made a funny pair at this wedding. It helped that we were accompanied by my close friend Monica and her boyfriend, as well as my sister. We have respect for the couple and the family, but some asides during the ceremony were inevitable:

PASTOR: ...And in the coming Apocalypse, when we are called to our Heavenly Father, there will be love, compassion,

ME (to my boyfriend): and BRAINS....

But most of our comments to each other had to do with what we'll do differently. Not what we WOULD do differently, but what we WILL do differently. The change has definitely occurred. Not that most of the comments weren't funny ("Definitely need to cut out all this fidelity crap." "Oh honey, he never specified what sort of fidelity...").

I was apparently among the certifiable "hot chicks" at the wedding, which still catches me off guard. When did I become a catch? Realize here, I only started wearing short skirts two years ago, when I magically realized I had legs worth showing off. Even more recently, I figured out my face wasn't just "plain" while my body was "hot". It's amazing to me now. I love loving my own body, but I still get surprised when large numbers of people agree.

To cap it all off, I caught the damn bouquet. I've never done that before. My boyfriend even caught the garter (it was arranged in its way), but like a gentleman passed it to the 6 year old boy. Thanks honey.

Yeah, I can do this wedding thing. Just as long as I can still make jokes about how much lube is really required to truly accept God's love, it'll all be just fine.



As an aside...

I really want Dot's old camera. Really a lot. Hopefully she'll still be selling it when I have money.

Whoa, new Cat!!! And yes, you are certifiably hot. Though it is interesting how some of the most gorgeous people are the last to grasp it about themselves.

I am seriously interested in your dance performance stuff. Hoping/expecting much more information on this! love

Awww....little kitty sounds sweet! I was offered a kitten by a friend on Wednesday, but I sadly had to say no as I really can't afford one.....one day, definitely! A friend will be taking the one I was offered when he moves house though, so at least it is going to a good home.

And my drunken typing skills are not quite as good as your bouquet catching skills! I've seen those turn violent on those "humourous" home video shows!!
