Almost here, the Herons, Grosbeaks, Grackle, Red Wings, Finches are back. The beavers are gone from the pond, but we have a muskrat in residence. As soon as the ground thaws out, will start working on the garden boxes. Been growing lettuce in the green house all winter, got sick on store greens twice last year, so never again.

Working on getting my fitness back,...

Hoping all are safe and well. We are becoming a temperate rainforest here in the backwoods of Pennsylvania. The gardens are flourishing with endless veggies and flowers. So much rain tho, that its getting harder to keep the lawns and pastures trimmed. The goats help with that, but there are only two and too much to eat.

My daily running is suffering from the isolation,...

It's hard to imagine a nicer or more satisfying post than this one. Some of it is particularly apt in my situation because in the midst of wrapping my head around 70, now another birthday is looming. I can't run any more as my knees came with substandard cartilage but I do have my fancy bicycle as a substitute. I would say I'm now properly inspired by your example so thank you, young feller. (Couldn't resist!) 😉

I'm jealous of your grass flourishing problems. My small flower and veggie garden here in philly is growing wild  but I am learning I can not get a lawn or grass to grow here in my tiny yard to save my life.  I keep thinking of the best form of exercise to keep my sanity these days but not many places to run or bike here in the city. loving your bright outlook. <3

This isolation is good for my gardens. Building another raised garden box for expanded veggies. The horse did a great job last summer growing winter squash. kept the whole extended family supplied and still left over. The little 6 x 8 hothouse kept us in salad greens all winter as well.

My running tends to slow to dormancy in the winter. I hate cold hands,...

This area has transformed into a temperate rain forest in the past few years, weather patterns are def changing. Lotsa rain for the gardens. Finally getting a permanent herb garden established, just the basics, oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme, sage, mint, lemon balm, and lavender.

Got back to running this week after almost a ten year layoff. feels good to be back on the track. Starting...

Gardens boxes are all planted and doing well. Herb garden is recovering quickly from Winter. Hoping for no more frost this spring. Spent all last Winter cutting and splitting wood, mostly cherry, I only cut dead tress to use for fire logs. Lawn mowing has started again, so that replaces the axe efforts with a push mower.

6 better-boy tomatoes, 4 Roma, 12 California Bell peppers, 4 Jalapeños, 4 hills of English cucumbers, 6 Brussel sprouts one box for just lettuce and Arugula. I have oregano, lemon balm, basil, dill, rosemary, thyme, and sage to plant. Surprisingly the lettuce and arugula survived freezing all winter and came back. Pole beans to plant yet, I use them to surround the cannabis grove, tho last summer the stalks were 12 feet tall and stuck up about 2 feet above the pole been trellis'.

Just did some mowing and edging yesterday. Roommate is closing on a house at the end of the month and my husband and I finally went to look inside. While there we "stole" a small Magnolia that was growing out of a root from a main tree. Going to see if I can't get it to root. My tomatoes have flowered but so sign of fruit yet. My mint is thriving like crazy. Aside from that, most of what I have is still in the tiny faze. Eventually, I'll have an actual above ground garden. Just have to find a happy place in my yard to do so.

Time to get busy training, spent most of the summer cutting up a fallen monster tree, good for muscle not speed tho. Now I need to get the running brain reprogrammed.

All the fruit and nut trees and the vineyard is tucked in for the winter, Probably start pruning in January.

The cats have decided to move indoors for the duration, they're pet door free...

Foggy Mornings, cooler nights, I guess it has to happen. I hate to run in the cold tho, at least my hands do. Need to find some good mittens, gloves just won't warm me up. The grapes and the gardens did well this year with all the rain and hot sun in between. They probably thought they were back in the south of France. American...
