Today I woke up to my spanish class being cancelled. Awesome. I slept in a bit more (I needed it, last night Megan and dunx and I decided it was a good idea to watch the whole first part of The Godfather starting at 11:30) and then went out to breakfast. Then dunx and I got some beer and sat on the lawn until elliptic curves, went to that, and then went back out to the lawn. We were almost out of beer when Plastic showed up with more and shared, like the good man he is. Then a sunny day keg appeared when I was getting my mail, which contained a birthday card from my mom and a bunch of candy from my ex's for my impending birthday. After a bit Alex mentioned juggling so I taught myself how to juggle beer bottles. It's like juggling clubs, only they're glass and harder to catch. Then I went home. It's so nice. I love life.

I got one bachelors in history and another in geography. I kind of like the soft social science portions of those fields. I suppose I would have succeeded more so in the days when they were taught as humanities.

I am interested in the how people use information and how to best provide it for them. This includes the processes in which people search for information and how to help them in each of these stages. What has intrigued me most as of late is the only recently realized unexpected benefits of pleasure reading. This includes the intellectual development of people as they grow older and communities of shared experiences that spring up. I have an interesting article on the validity of romance novels (I dont read them myself, though I have a report on erotica due in a couple of weeks) as a literary source I wish I could send you. However, proprietary law prevents me from copying the article and sending it to you. I would just mail you the article but that would mean getting your address and if a severed monkeys head ended up on your porch, I know who youd blame.

My strongest interest is working in a neighborhood branch as a public librarian. I would be a jack-of-all trades and could do reference, cataloging, programming, readers advisory, and maintain the web page. Working at an academic library and providing reference and bibliographic instruction is a close second. If I did this, I would try to coordinate with professors and make library research a part of the curriculum in entry and survey level classes. This way, when major research papers and theses come up, students could focus on heavy research and not be overly concerned with finding sources.

I have noticed on your posts that you study math. I think law, math, and science students can really write their own ticket if they get into the library school. Those positions are harder for libraries to fill and the greatest demands are in those fields.

I hope this helps and best of luck on whatever endeavors you decide to undertake. Feel free to ask me more questions about the field anytime.
