Very wise. I'm taking my Good Lady Wife and the nippers to London tomorrow for the weekend to see the dinosaurs in the museum and eat Mexican food. Interestingly, the Natural History Museum (where we're going) has a volcano section, with mock-ups of volcanic activity. I'll survey the ash scattered in an orderly fashion around the displays and think of the dark secret you're keeping from your mother's innocent eyes.

Oh the shame.

My guilty secret: a couple of weeks ago my eldest daughter made biscuits at school (cookies?). I ate three quarters of them - they were so nice - she was upset that most of them had gone so I blamed it on the pet geese. My daughter then asked if I'd bought pet geese while she was at school (we don't actually have pet geese). I said I did, but they died after eating her biscuits. The therapy is on-going.

No, sweetie, I really mean it. I might have elaborated more, but I am fortunate to never have had many health problems so I wasn't really sure what to say. I do have another friend though ... she has HIV, Hep-C, an allergy to gluton (which is apparently in EVERYTHING) and diabetes. Many days just suck for her! Now granted in her case, some of these ailments are a direct result of bad mistakes she made in her past. But it doesn't matter why ... this is just the reality now. Even with all this, she went back to school a few years ago ... clearly expecting to fail. I laughed at her. She's smart and able. I knew she would do fine, it was just a community college. And she did. But she blew us all away ... she was Valedictorian when she graduated! Now she is at the university finishing up her degree and plans to go for a Masters as well. To say I don't know how she does it is an understatement. She has pain and fatigue like most people will never experience, but she just keeps putting one foot in front of the other, day after day. What else are you going to do? Lay down and die?

But of course we all have challenges and adversities that we must overcome. I have my share of problems, too, but sometimes I am humbled greatly by running across someone like you. I am inspired to try harder and be a better person and make the world a better place by realizing that I want to be part of the solution and not part of the problem. Because, my dear, that is what I see you doing.

And that is why I said it. And I'll it again: You are awesome!
