Christ
I saw The Passion of the Christ this weekend and I'd have to say that I'm slightly disappointed at the portrayal. In the Bible, it says that Jesus suffered thirty nine lashes during the scourging. The way Mel Gibson had it, it looked like they got thirty nine REALLY good ones in. I mean, he had tears and slashes along major tendons in his legs and deep cuts along major muscle groups. Anyone who ever had a deep cut would know that no matter how hard you tried, you couldn't move a muscle that has a deep cut because the actual muscle fibers aren't connected to each other. I guess medical accuracy wasn't the point, so I let that go and just tried to focus on the rest of the work. Not being a very religious person, I found the flashbacks to Jesus preaching and the lines chosen were very well done. The cinematography was pretty good and the languages were awesome to hear. The only thing I couldn't get over was a simple fact...This is a Mel Gibson movie.
Rock and Roll
We played our first show this weekend at Pittsburgh's famous Bloomfield Bridge Tavern. We did pretty well under the "first gig" circumstances, but we've been playing together (without our singer) for two years. All the other bands were pretty cool and the place was packed to the gills. Pretty cool considering the last time I played, I did for ten people. Anybody want to swap shows? Nude photos?

my mom wants to take me to see the passion for my birthday. as if birthdays weren't already depressing enough. meh, maybe i'll get a free dinner out of it too. she's not religious or anything but i think for a lesbian she talks a little too much about mel gibson...
