With Extreme Fucking Prejudice
I just finished reading a book called "The Cult of Ayn Rand". If you aren't familiar with what a remarkable asshole Rand was, this book is a good introduction. Aside from founding a third-rate, intellectually dubious philosophy, she cuckolded her husband which led to his severe drinking problem, had a complete inability to accept any sort of criticism, and was in general a raging dickhead. I remember when I first read Fountainhead, I thought it was a genius book. It lead me to read Atlas Shrugged; like Officer Barbrady in South Park, I read every single word in that book. My time would have been better spent shoving needles in my eyes. I re-read Fountainhead over the summer after I got my wisdom teeth taken. Not nearly as solipsistic and didactic as Atlas Shrugged, but it could have easily been trimmed by about 200 pages.
